Server and Plant Rooms
Maintaining a consistent temperature range within a server room is crucial, not only to ensure reliability but also to ensure that there is confidence in the service that you provide to customers.
Different server manufacturers have different recommended optimum temperatures, but general recommendations suggest that you should not go below 10°C (50°F) or above 28°C (82°F). This is a very wide range, but does reflect the extremes to cover different standards. A widely recommended temperature target is 20-21°C (68-71°F).
If an air conditioning malfunction occurs, reaching the upper end of this temperature range is not unusual and can occur quite rapidly.
In practice, even raising the temperature by a few degrees can drastically reduce the lifetime of semiconductor devices. The consequences and financial impact of a serious temperature excursion do not bear thinking about – imagine the inconvenience, lost business and unavailable customer details, and the impact these could have on your business.
The Abacus Guardian temperature monitoring system allows you to monitor the temperature in server rooms and plant rooms; in fact, at all stages where you are responsible, you can be confident that you can not only monitor the temperature, but you will also have a record of the temperatures throughout the process.
“Keeping our environment at the correct temperature is critical to many aspects of our operation and we trust our Abacus Guardian system to help us keep it under control”
