One billion vaccines are administered in China in one year, with the fault rate at 2 million inoculations, meaning that over 1,000 of those vaccinations are either ineffective, have caused further symptoms, or in some cases have even caused paralysis.
China is unusual in its approach to vaccination, using attenuated live vaccines rather than inactivated vaccines. These attenuated vaccines are highly effective, causing the immune system to produce its own antibiotics, yet are deemed unsafe by most developed nations.
However, the director of the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has warned that many of those vaccines produced in China are below the set guidelines, whilst the regulations surrounding the storage of vaccines are not tight enough, rendering the vaccinations ineffective. Whilst this negligence is a clear issue, claiming compensation against it is difficult, due to the impossibility of proving a link between illness and the vaccine.
